Aura’s Birth Story

Aura’s Birth Story

Back in August, I had the biggest pleasure to be invited to witness and photograph the arrival of a little girl called Aura. Let me tell you (or actually show you) a little story of how she arrived.

I met her mummy and daddy back in July for their beautiful maternity photo shoot. We had lots of fun together and their images turned out as gorgeous as they are.

I was with my family having a day out in the Orange Elephant when Dan called me to say that ‚it’s started’ and they would like me to come along.

Danielle and Dan chose to have their little girl in the location they love and feel happiest at – their home. They arranged everything to make sure they all would feel happy, relaxed and they created a welcoming and loving environment for their little girl to arrive to. There were candles, ambient light and beautiful soothing music… Just have a look.

After a few hours of Aura feeling too comfy to come out, Danielle was transferred to hospital to get a little bit of help.

Being a part of this incredible day was not only a privilege but also an emotional experience. I remembered how my children were coming to this world and it helped me tune in with their emotions and feelings. I remembered the moments I first held my babies and watching how Danni and Dan gazed at their beautiful baby girl was so much more than just another ‚photography job’.

For reasons beyond our control, I could not accompany Danielle and Dan to the operating theatre so I missed the very moment Aura was born. But on the day I witnessed how two people, so far a loving couple, were ‚born’ into parenthood. They left the room as a couple, and came back as parents, holidng their bundle of love and starting at her in awe. There is no other experience that I can compare this one to. Absolutely priceless.

The night Aura said ‚hello’ to the world wasn’t our last meeting 🙂 She returned several days later to have her newborn photo shoot 🙂
