First birthday is a super special ONE, isn’t it?
First year of your child’s life brings so many new experiences, significant milestones and precious ‚firsts’. First smile, first solid meal, first tooth, first steps and many other moments which you celebrate with your little human. No wonder you want the first birthday to be super special too. Many parents start planning their child’s birthdat party almost as soon as the baby is born. I totally get that.
You want your little one to be surrounded by her loved ones, be showered with kisses, presents and spend her special day in a festive joyful atmosphere. Many parents also decide to book a cake smash photo shoot to have their baby photographed with a cake, having the title ‚smash’. I have had the pleasure of photographing these and they mostly were great fun for both the kiddies and their parents. There were a few apprehensive One Year Olds too, who were unsure about damaging the cake and smearing it all over their cute face 🙂 Each to their own.
How to have a sweet celebration without smashing a cake?
Last summer I was asked by Julia’s mum to plan and do a photo shoot for her gorgeous baby girl in a girly, subtle non studio based way. We discussed many options and Karolina, Julia’s mum said she would love to take her little missy to a beautiful cafe, to have a cake, a few giggles and have it all captured by me. I didn’t need to be asked twice.
We chose a cafe with pastel interior which beautifully complemented Julia and mum’s outfits for the day – whites, dusky pink and neutrals, it all lookes simply scrummy.
Julia did not even realise it was a photo shoot. For her it was a girly, mummy & me celebration of her special milestone. There was ice cream, creamy coffee, lilipops and most of all – lots of fun. I bet these images will be dearly treasured.
On that day we created something more than just photos – we created memories that will stay with the family for years to come.
