Couple Shoot in Bellever Forest
I promised you a blog post featuring some love birds and here it is. A fun filled Halloween afternoon that could not be ruined by gloomy weather, slippery and curvy roads or even a little mishap on a wet rock. It was all perfection and the images are hopefully are going to prove that.
International Affairs
I have recently realised that one of the more enjoyable aspects of working as a photographer is meeting people from all walks of life and different countries. I have previously worked with clients from Spain, Italy, Slovakia, Lithuania, Australia, Poland, Switzerland, France, Russia and most recently this lovely duo from Germany.
Michelle and Patrick came all the way from Germany to visit their family in Exeter. They were here only for a couple of days yet one of the things they included in their intinerary was a photo shoot with me. They saw images from my previous photo shoots of their family and decided they wanted to work with me too. This is always a huge privilege and pressure when meeting clients (visitors) from abroad as there is just this one chance not to mess things up. It’s either now or never.
We set the date some time in August and we knew it would be the Halloween afternoon that we would meet. We chatted about Michelle and Patrick’s wishes; what sort of location would be ideal for them.
Together we chose one of my most favourite spots in Devon, Bellever Forest. It is around an hour’s drive from Exeter along some steep and curvy roads, but man, it is a road that (like the saying says) does lead to beautiful destinations.
I have previously done some couples shots there too and I was confident these guys would enjoy the location too.
Bellever Forest
When you google Bellever Forrest it is most often described as a versatile location, catering for needs of these more or less advanced explorers. You can climb the Bellever Tor just a stone’s throw from the forest or just enjoy a picnic by the river (like I did many times in the summer, with my friends and family). In autumn the spot is not as busy as in the summer where you can expect a packed car park and plenty of people having a relaxing time. I don’t blame them – the location is absolutely perfect for families and individuals alike.

The English Weather
I knew the spot was going to be a hit with the first-time-comers Michelle and Patrick but I was really worried about rain getting in the way and ruining our perfect plan. I thought they would be panicking and possibly asking to reschedule or cancel last minute but nope. „We are not scared of the rain”, they said without hesitation and with broad smiles on their faces. They brought waterproof shoes, jackets, warm clothing and the attitude that made all the difference. They never said no to any of my crazy ideas which included climbing, jumping, walking on tree trunks, chasing each other, standing in the rain, sitting on rocks and many more.

Photo Shoot for No Special Occasion
If you are wondering if there is a special reason why these two decided to book a photo shoot, let me tell you: there isn’t. They have known each other for several years, been married for a few and just wanted some beautiful memories captured so that they can take more than just phone snaps when they go home.
We often wait for special occasions to hire a photographer (engagement, wedding, birthday or anniversary) but the truth is every day is worth living it the best way you can and remembering it. Don’t wait for another special milestone or a meaningful event to happen in your life to invest in beautiful imagery. Now is the best time.
